Small Success Thursday, No. 1

For the first time in many, many weeks I feel like I've started actually accomplishing a few things here and there. So I thought this was a good time to start joining in on the Small Success Thursdays over at CatholicMom.com. The idea is to share three successes from the past week, however small they are, thus the title. So here we go, hopefully the first of many more Small Success posts.

I have actually gotten showered and dressed before noon (actually before at least 10 AM) every morning this week. True, I had appointments or things I had to be at every day this week, but still! That's a pretty awesome accomplishment for a new mom with a baby who is not yet on a schedule.

Actually, he is starting to sort of have a schedule, but it seems to change regularly too. For a while he was waking around 5:30 or 6 AM to eat and then going back to sleep. If I was motivated, I would take a shower then. If not, he usually ate again around 8:30 or 9 AM and then sleep again. Not any longer. This week, when I had a Monday doctor appointment, an appointment at the car dealer for an oil change on Tuesday, then needed to get an early start Wednesday so I could go get new tires on the car, and then today, Thursday, I have to take the older boys to daycare and be at a friends house by 10 AM ... now he decides to be awake in the mornings. So I'm taking a shower and praying he is keeping himself entertained and not screaming his head off. I find it stressful, to say the least.

But this is still a good thing. He's sleeping about 5-6 hours at night now. So the trade off is that he wants to be awake at the time when I need to be getting ready in the morning. I'm sure it'll all change again in another couple weeks.

I checked my work email account and actually responded to a couple of things rather than just deleting the emails I knew were unimportant or just vendors trying to sell me things. I even got on the ball and emailed the contact person for the lactation room closest to my building and emailed my supervisors regarding my schedule for work and being able to have time to pump when I am back at work.

I have three more weeks, one of which will be a week at a conference. I'm not looking forward to going back.

This may not be a small success. More like a BIG success: I'm back to my pre-pregnancy weight!! After less than 8 weeks! I'm still in shock over this one. Now I just need to get back to my previous pre-pregnancy weight. It'll be a while before I get there.

  1. Number 3: I am in awe. And as to baby schedules, I always found those to be completely fictitious things. My kids just never got onto one. Sigh. Give that baby an extra smooch today!

    Number 3: Great job! I'm a little jealous. :)

As for #1... That is fantastic. I remember being just about too tired to brush my teeth. But #3 is FANTABULOUS and I'm currently so jealous (pray for me) that I may not ever be able to come back to your blog - HA! In my defense I was 40 when I had my child... and it was NOT a pretty pregnancy. And truth be told, I've not seen my pre-pregancy weight since then and the boy is ten. Sigh. lol GREAT JOB YOU!

    Blessings,
    Em

    1. You're so sweet, Em. :) Don't be too jealous, I'm still 20 pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight from my twins. I may never get down to that again. It seems to be a perpetual goal. LOL!
