Life's Distractions and Contemplating Lent

I've been contemplating the distractions in my life lately. Particularly the negative ones. I turned my thoughts into a blog post and you can go read it. Come on over and see my thoughts on distractions, prayer, and the upcoming Lenten season.

You can read my post Removing Distractions, Seeking God over at Catholic Sistas today.

Hope you enjoy!

Small Success Thursday, No. 2

Two weeks in a row!! Here we go:

--1--
I managed to clean our shower this week. I hate our shower. It's tiny and really hard to clean and was the last thing I wanted to do during my pregnancy. So, now it's finally done. Yay!

--2--
I also came up with a fix for our shower door. The latch on the door handle broke and since we have plans to eventually remodel this bathroom, we haven't bothered trying to fix the handle. But the door doesn't close all the way and occasionally too much water would leak out onto the floor. I finally had it. So I came up with a solution. My husband rolled his eyes at the idea and said it wouldn't work.

I'm happy to share that it DID work. Ha! I bought a fridge/small appliance child safety device and installed it inside the shower. Works great! Even Hubby agreed that it worked really well.
Fridge safety device works great to keep the shower door closed!

Baby boy is growing!! He had his 2 month well visit this morning and weighed in at 11 pounds, 7.8 ounces. Yay!! That's all breastmilk, too. So definitely a success for me!! Woohoo!!

Small Success Thursday, No. 1

For the first time in many, many weeks I feel like I've started actually accomplishing a few things here and there. So I thought this was a good time to start joining in on the Small Success Thursdays over at CatholicMom.com. The idea is to share three successes from the past week, however small they are, thus the title. So here we go, hopefully the first of many more Small Success posts.

--1--
I have actually gotten showered and dressed before noon (actually before at least 10 AM) every morning this week. True, I had appointments or things I had to be at every day this week, but still! That's a pretty awesome accomplishment for a new mom with a baby who is not yet on a schedule.

Actually, he is starting to sort of have a schedule, but it seems to change regularly too. For a while he was waking around 5:30 or 6 AM to eat and then going back to sleep. If I was motivated, I would take a shower then. If not, he usually ate again around 8:30 or 9 AM and then sleep again. Not any longer. This week, when I had a Monday doctor appointment, an appointment at the car dealer for an oil change on Tuesday, then needed to get an early start Wednesday so I could go get new tires on the car, and then today, Thursday, I have to take the older boys to daycare and be at a friends house by 10 AM ... now he decides to be awake in the mornings. So I'm taking a shower and praying he is keeping himself entertained and not screaming his head off. I find it stressful, to say the least.

But this is still a good thing. He's sleeping about 5-6 hours at night now. So the trade off is that he wants to be awake at the time when I need to be getting ready in the morning. I'm sure it'll all change again in another couple weeks.

I checked my work email account and actually responded to a couple of things rather than just deleting the emails I knew were unimportant or just vendors trying to sell me things. I even got on the ball and emailed the contact person for the lactation room closest to my building and emailed my supervisors regarding my schedule for work and being able to have time to pump when I am back at work.

I have three more weeks, one of which will be a week at a conference. I'm not looking forward to going back.

This may not be a small success. More like a BIG success: I'm back to my pre-pregnancy weight!! After less than 8 weeks! I'm still in shock over this one. Now I just need to get back to my previous pre-pregnancy weight. It'll be a while before I get there.
